Happy New Year!

We set off for Fraser's Hill early in the morn on the 30th of Dec. In case you are wondering, Fraser's Hill sits on Pahang, West Malaysia. We drove till we reached this huge dam when we were near Fraser's.

I was still not very awake then haha) It was really scenic there. Like some peaceful countryside. I actually stitched a photo of the entire view but can't really post it up cos it'll be too small.

It was a long long winding road up Fraser's Hill. There weren't many Singaporean tourists there. In fact, the day we went, we saw none. Cameron Highlands is definitely the more popular choice.

I wasn't surprised cos there really wasn't much going on at Fraser's Hill. Unlike Cameron where there's even a highway going through, you could tour Fraser's Hill on foot.

The very much-photographed clock tower. It's the signature spot of Fraser's Hill.

Our resort was really run down. There wasn't much maintenance whatsoever. I think almost all the inns and resorts there should be so since there ain't a lot of visitors there.

Behind me is the heart of Fraser's Hill. That's like the little town where we have our meals. Almost the only place we could eat at.

We were really starving by the time we reached the top. And we grabbed the first food we saw at a little road side stall. Corn with butter! Yum.

But my favourite has to be...

The Ramly man! From what I observe, Mr Ramly is a very quiet man. Kinda like a big, gentle bear.
His burgers are the BEST! I'm not exaggerating! You gotta go try the special (the one with egg) if you ever get to visit Fraser's. Shiok I tell ya! It was really popular. The short span of time I was there, the man sold almost 20 burgers. And Mr Ramly even got compliments from a customer after he finished eating with his family.

After filling our stomachs, we went touring around the place. We went by a nice little cottage called 'Ye Olde Smokehouse'. It looked really warm and cosy so we decided to check it out to see if we could have a nice western style dinner there. The inside looked great but the prices were exorbitant!

So, we could only be satisfied with just taking photographs of the exterior.

A signboard with a nice little message you can see several times around the hill.

We walked about 10 mins into a little waterfall.

After visiting the not very impressive waterfall, we went back to the resort. As you see, there are no pictures of the reosrt cos it simply wasn't fantastic.

The next morning

We all woke up really early to go for a walk. The temperature was 18 degrees celcius.

As usual, I wasn't very awake until we took a mini hike of about 15 mins through one of the few trails through the jungle after breakfast. I wouldn't have minded a longer trail cos I really kinda miss trekking. But we were with his parents so we couldn't really do that.

Nonetheless, we were greeted by several beautiful English houses when we emerged from the trail on the other side.

This one's called Ken House.

As we walked along, we discovered there is a Singapore House (or Richmond House)! Yeah, needless to say it's meant for Singaporeans.

Grabbed this picture from a website.

You can book it online cos it's actually under Aloha. The rental is very cheap for such a nice, well-maintained place. You can check out this website if you're interested: http://www.aloha.gov.sg/sections/cottages/cottages_rates.htm

They even provide meals cooked by in-house housekeepers at RM30 per pax per day. All 3 meals ok!

Just remember:

:)

The house is huge! We went in for a little tour and found that the interiors are so much nicer than our resort! Damn. We should've done more research beforehand!

According to the housekeeper there, you'll need to book early in advance.

The housekeeper plants the veg used to cook meals at the backyard!

Fraser's Hill has got lots of flowers. They're everywhere. It's a real pretty sight. And I love taking pictures of flowers and plants.

I picked this acorn up and kept it with me.

One last view from the resort before we checked out. We saw monkeys opening the window of a room from the block opposite ours, summoned its friends, and climbed in. He filmed the whole process. It was simply hilarious.

After checking out from the resort, we continued exploring Fraser's Hill and found that there were actually some activities we could do there.

For example:

Boating (Boring in my opinion)

Archery (fun!)

Or ride a horse! (only RM4 for one round)

A pity the picture wasn't well taken. Can only see half of the horse's face. When the horse starts walking, i felt as if I was gonna fall off. It was walking at a speed of like 1m/sec ok! Wonder how the jockeys keep their balance man.

The horse was kinda funny too. It likes to stop halfway along the route to munch some grass. It's a little scary when it bends its head down to eat. I mean it's kinda tall ya know. It was one interesting experience.

So each of us had a go at archery and horse-walking.

Then, we headed down to KL for some shopping and new year countdown. There's simply too much to share! So, I shall continue next time. Blogging can be exhausting when blogger sucks. Haha.

Oh oh by the way, for those who still don't know, I PASSED MY DRIVING last weekend! Finally!

*Claps and cheers*
