The Smiley Gals!

Been wanting to do a collage of the smiley gals' monkey faces I collected for some time. Finally, it's done and I absolutely love the effects!

This photo was taken with my phone. Nice eh?

Happy 22nd Birthday to my bro! May the force be with you... hehe :D

Against all odds

Been going through some rough patches recently. I've always been a rather optimistic person so usually I forget about the unhappy stuff after a good night's sleep.

I thought a lot on the train on my way home and decided that I shall not get upset over people who are simply not worth my attention. Cos it'd be unfair to those who have to bear with my foul mood or listen to me complain.

One of the principles I stand strongly by: Whatever tasks assigned, put in your best and try to do it well even if you don't really enjoy doing it.

Doing one's job well is, at the basic level, a form of self-protection. After fulfilling that, it then serves its higher purpose, that is, to showcase one's abilities and fulfil oneself. The higher purposes can only be fulfilled by some jobs, due to their nature and how important we perceive the jobs to be. But all jobs can help us self-protect, which is why we need to do our best. Today, I found that principle very relevant.

Just wanna say to all my friends out there: Don't despair no matter what happens. If you feel you're sinking, think 'It could have been worse' (quoted from Clara, thanks girl). Derive strength from setbacks! You know what they say about having sunshine after the rain and blah.

For those whose lives are going on smoothly, as smooth as the soya beancurd from Chomp Chomp, may it stay that way for as long as it can. Yum, love the soya beancurd.

I believe in karma. Which means I believe the meanies will eventually reap what they sow.

I love all my friends who showered me with encouragement everytime I needed some and of cos, my dearest him, who has to put up with my nonsense whenever I'm down.

P/s: Please remember not to lean against the poles on the train so that poor office ladies in high heels (like me) can at least hold on. I have already resigned to my fate that I have to stand all the way back home everyday.

I'm such a failure.

I failed my driving test! Argh!

Check out the lame mistakes I was marked down for:
  • Vertical parking adjustments
  • Insufficient acceleration while moving off (NO instructors ever told me I had that problem before)
  • Speed too slow on the road (Every time I go for lessons the instructors will say I'm driving too fast. What do these people want, man?)
  • Change lane abrubtly (Like... Huh?)
  • Fail to use appropriate gear (my fault)

and the lamest one of all has got to be...

  • TAKE TOO LONG IN CHECKING BLIND SPOT ( The tester said I turned my head too backward. WTH?! Who gets marked down for checking? I thought they only penalise u when you don't check. Argh.)

Just a few minor mistakes that shouldn't result in failure you say? I thought so too. But the SENIOR tester ticked all the boxes possible for each mistake when I didn't even know I made them.

After that, I had to waste another 300 bucks for revision lessons and retest. FREAK!!! I am so angry!!!

These 2 weeks...

It's been 2 weeks since my last entry.

Two weeks ago, my uncle (my mom's elder bro) passed away, consumed by the very evil Hepatitis B. When my mom informed me of the bad news, I was just a few hours from visiting him at a JB hospital.

Mom was by my uncle's side when he left. I wasn't, and I wished I was. But when Mom described my uncle's last few moments later, my heart broke. I really don't understand how life can be so cruel to such a good, simple man. He has worked all his life, has a few children who aren't exactly that filial and never got to retire and enjoy.

Life ain't fair. Not that I just understood that overnight.

After that, I was glad that the memories my uncle left me weren't that of him enduring all the pain and suffering.

I will always remember he was the one who bought me and my cousins beautiful fireworks to play with and goodies to eat every Chinese New Year. He was the one who would pat my head and encourage me to study hard, praising me even though I hadn't done well for my exams. His red packets were always the biggest even though he didn't earn much. He'd try to appease Mom when she got angry at me to save me from the music.

He played a part in giving me the best childhood memories and I really want to thank him for that.

I finally got my first shot at audit. It's not the 'peak period' yet so all's still manageable. Yup I'm still alive. It's interesting going to the clients' places. We can only gawk at their tastefully designed offices and lament at our own. Oh well.

The most interesting experience related to audit I've had so far has got to be the stocktake I went to last Sunday. Yesh, Sunday it was, when you were out shopping or at home on your comfy bed.

I had to go into 7 huge storerooms that were minus 10 degrees celcius. Quite an experience that was, considering my fear of the cold. Even though I was in winter wear, I could barely flip my papers or write by the 4th room. My nose and fingers were on the brink of disowning me by the 5th. We had to check the stock on a forklift too! I like being lifted up and down on the forklift, except for the blasts of cold wind that swallowed my face when the forklift moved from one point to another.

Will be updating on how I spent my mookcake festival soon! Love the Raffles Hotel Si Chuan Court mooncakes! Yum!
