Against all odds

Been going through some rough patches recently. I've always been a rather optimistic person so usually I forget about the unhappy stuff after a good night's sleep.

I thought a lot on the train on my way home and decided that I shall not get upset over people who are simply not worth my attention. Cos it'd be unfair to those who have to bear with my foul mood or listen to me complain.

One of the principles I stand strongly by: Whatever tasks assigned, put in your best and try to do it well even if you don't really enjoy doing it.

Doing one's job well is, at the basic level, a form of self-protection. After fulfilling that, it then serves its higher purpose, that is, to showcase one's abilities and fulfil oneself. The higher purposes can only be fulfilled by some jobs, due to their nature and how important we perceive the jobs to be. But all jobs can help us self-protect, which is why we need to do our best. Today, I found that principle very relevant.

Just wanna say to all my friends out there: Don't despair no matter what happens. If you feel you're sinking, think 'It could have been worse' (quoted from Clara, thanks girl). Derive strength from setbacks! You know what they say about having sunshine after the rain and blah.

For those whose lives are going on smoothly, as smooth as the soya beancurd from Chomp Chomp, may it stay that way for as long as it can. Yum, love the soya beancurd.

I believe in karma. Which means I believe the meanies will eventually reap what they sow.

I love all my friends who showered me with encouragement everytime I needed some and of cos, my dearest him, who has to put up with my nonsense whenever I'm down.

P/s: Please remember not to lean against the poles on the train so that poor office ladies in high heels (like me) can at least hold on. I have already resigned to my fate that I have to stand all the way back home everyday.
