Before I leave... I'll be flying to Hong Kong in another 15 hrs! Sadly, I'll be travelling there alone. And yes, as usual, I am not done packing my luggage. I am thinking to myself 'Can someone pack for me?'. I hate packing even though I have done it umpteen times. I'm terrible. Why am I still blogging? Nostalgia. 2 hrs ago, I popped by NTU with Xp to check out this year's FOOT camp. For those who don't know, it's the freshmen orientation camp organised by NTU Outdoor Adventure Club (ODAC). It was really great to see many familiar faces - these are the people with whom we've scaled mountains fought wars ate supper had heart-to-heart talks played bridge cycled miles and the list goes on. ![]() Clockwise: Fad, Jing Cheng, Derek, Junjie, Jacob, Nicholas, Xp & me ![]() Clockwise from back row: Jacob, Siang Ping, Eugene, Fad, Me, Xp & Nicholas We are the 'expired' seniors, the old men & women. ![]() How can we not have a HCJC OAC photo? Commando, vain as ever, tries to steal the limelight by slapping his face right in front. And we can't help but wanna punch and kick him. ![]() Left to right: XP, Gan, Elsie, Commando & me Gan, violent as ever, just has to spoil the photo. It's amazing that all of us from HCJC OAC who came to NTU all joined the big ODAC family. Yup, even the juniors. The freshmen (more commonly known as 'freshies') looked really... fresh. The girls being three years younger than us and the guys, one. Boy, do we feel old. I'm happy to think that some of these freshies will continue the ODAC legacy. They will be like us. :) I am thankful for all the fond memories that I get to keep after 2 years in HCJC OAC and 3 years in NTU ODAC and the great company too. Even though my grades have been sacrificed to a large extent, I must say that my college and university days have been eventful and fulfilling as a result. I am glad I have a lot of experiences to share with others, and not just 'Oh, I don't have a CCA, I spent my days studying', when they ask about my college and uni days. But when I think about the fact that all these memories will forever be just memories, I can't help but feel upset. Me & xp were just saying these memories can never be relived. Not like before anyway. No matter what, my heart still belongs to the great outdoors, to mother nature. I'll still go camping if I can, be it East Coast Park, Sentosa, Pulau Ubin or Malaysia. I'll backpack, trek, cycle, rollerblade when I have the time. Before we left, I had to take a picture of the bicycles that were neatly lined by the logistics crew for night cycling. You see, the bikes now are equipped with head and tail lights! We didn't have that kinda safety back then. ![]() Last of all, kudos to the FOOT committee who have planned so hard for FOOT 2006! I'm sure it'll be a good FOOT. The chief GLs, Siang Ping and Siew Sze, who have moved from Pumpfest to FOOT to spread the cheer, sure deserve special mention. It must be tiring for them to have to sing, cheer and play along with the youngsters since age is catching up. Hehe. I hope that FOOT will be blessed with good weather and may safety be with all the seniors and freshmen throughout the whole camp. I have to go pack my luggage now. Will be back on the 24th just in time for convocation on the 25th. Viv, dear girl, enjoy yourself in Bangkok! I'll be having a fabulous time in Hong Kong, I'm sure! Till then, take care my friends! |
